More about Rori, Rori Travels Florida & Enjoy Florida’s Coast
Since her first visit at the tender age of 4 in December, 1971, Rori has loved Florida, and its heartbeat, Walt Disney World.
That winter, Rori’s parents pulled the backseat from their 1967 Ford Mustang convertible to make a larger bed for Rori and 9 month old brother, Cary. Their vacation destination? The newly born, Walt Disney World.
With many visits to Florida since with her parents and brother, her own family and now seeing the World through the eyes of her young nieces and nephew, things have come full circle.
An idea came to her – travel site with travel videos.
Rori is a writer, having been working on her fiction until 2007 when she added business writing to her resume. That turned into marketing writing then morphed into a National business column on Examiner.com, followed by a travel column, both in 2009.
Jumping into the social media marketing craze as a business writer, Rori finally launched her own Twitter page in June – RoriTravel. Between June and December while she wrote about social media marketing, her own participation was limited, climbing to 2000 followers. Along the way though, she learned a lot and was soon being called a “social media expert”.
A move to the Orlando, Florida area made the next steps possible. Becoming a “Full Time Tourist” in her favorite travel destination has only opened the door wider upon what she loves – Florida.
In 2010 she decided to take the idea behind that original thought in 2007, combine it with the RoriTravel brand and create a new blog.
Launching RoriTravel Blog at the end of January 2010, Rori started to pursue and expand her Twitter following while growing a travel audience.
Between January and April of 2010, RoriTravel on Twitter jumped from 2000 to more than 5300 followers. RoriTravel Blog became so known that a new site was required. Refurbishment (as all theme parks do) caused a short break in blogging, returning to the bloggisphere in April with the newly redone site.
Rori Travels Florida launched in mid-April 2010 to great reviews and comments. Subsequently, Rori Travel Media Group was created.
With an increase in photos and the addition of video, we can now share Florida in a whole new and exciting way!
Rori is ready to expand: She joins fellow blogger, Ben Reed of Adventures With Ben in a new Florida Travel Podcast; Florida Travel Cocktail Podcast. Additionally, Rori was asked to join GalTime.com Orlando as a regular contributor. She was elected unanimously in August 2011 to the Visit Mount Dora Board of Directors, a not-for-profit marketing organization promoting Mount Dora, Florida businesses & tourism.
In 2012 Rori applied to a PhD program in Media Psychology and was accepted for the fall 2012.
In the summer of 2012 is was decided that Rori Travels Florida would change its primary focus to the Florida coast, switching the title name to Enjoy Florida’s Coast, with Rori Travels Florida becoming a secondary coverage. More changes lie ahead, but like is fluid…
