Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Marathon in photos
We’ll be sharing so much from our Florida Keys & Key West trip, but here is a rundown of photos from our stay in the middle Keys at Holiday Inn Express & Key West. This was our first stop in the Keys and a two night stay. (We were their guests as media) Enjoy and for more on the Florida Keys & Key West, check out our continuing coverage on Rori Travels Florida. Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Marathon
was in the perfect location for a middle Keys
visit. At the North end of Marathon you’re within an easy
drive of the airport, Dolphin Research Center and the Turtle
Hospital. Also Sombrero Beach, dining, and the beaches.
When you’re checking in during the rain, this cover can be your friend!
Holiday Inn Express & Suites was all we had hoped and more.
Yes, it is a “regular” HIE&S, but it was quiet when we
wanted, in a great location for all we did, and the beds were comfy!
The staff was great and friendly. I don’t believe they knew
who we were, so its just in their blood – and that was backed up
when we watched them with others. And Josh (or Jason – I forgot) helped us when
some kids in the hotel kept taking our “pet in room” tag.
They were brats, the staff were patient and friendly!
A comfy sitting area (I watched a kid watching TV here)
and eating for breakfast – didn’t get breakfast photos as
we were up against a whole lot of people who were
a bit rude and were not in the mood to let us eat, let
alone take photos. But that was their issue. We had a pleasant time and
the food was good, as was eating it… back in our near-by room!
Our trip was pretty much planned out, but if you
need help setting things up, there is some who can help.
From the on-site marina including fishing boats and kayaks to
local activities and attractions, you’re in-the-know here.
The Business Center is well equipped and ready.
This is your vacation so stay away. But if you NEED to, there are
computers, free Internet, and more.
Be aware, we did have issues throughout the Keys when T.S. Debby was
at her worst with winds in getting online. NOT that
I complained. It just meant I didn’t have to work! Darn!
Our room, while “typical” ended up being awesome.
There was a family reunion in the hotel and
while the kids were brats and the adults not much better, we didn’t
have to listen to it! This room was quiet!
The beds were very comfy and we all slept like rocks.
The room was large. Ours was ok for dogs – no signs of
previous canine visitors and we ALWAYS leave our rooms clean -
near the very front of the hotel so it was an easy in-out for our days.
The TV was great, the storms didn’t bother us, and we had more than enough room!
The bathroom was big, with plenty of room. We actually
really appreciated it when we returned a couple times in rain and
had to dry off ourselves and Jake before getting deeper into the room.
The view from our room. You won’t have
balconies here, but the views are pretty nice. Ours was the walkway to the pool area which we
could easily see. Even though it was a heavily traveled area – something that
made us nervous – it didn’t bother us at all.
This was a lovely view. There is a parking lot
side and a water side. The water side overlooks the pool and
river next to the property.
The pool is a nice one. We didn’t indulge this time, we didn’t want to
leave Jake too long, but it sure looked nice.
People out there seemed to be enjoying, even when there was a
cloud cover. When it was sunny, it was even nicer!
There is a river at the side of the hotel, with a marina
at the hotel for kayaking and fishing charters. The view is nice and we’re told
there are occasionally manatee that come in here.
The Marina offers boat charters for fishing and is
right at the rear of the property.
There are a number of boats for going out.
Also, kayaks and SUP (Standup Paddleboarding) for you to rent.
Tarpon Creek Marina offers
the boats for rent and charter, but also a shop.
From sundries to t-shirts to
books, and so much more. Prices are pretty typical, with some higher
than you’d think, but the choices are varied and interesting. I
picked up a book on Hemingway here.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Marathon is in
the comfort, location and details. We enjoyed our stay and would
very certainly make this a top choice when we return to the Marathon area.
