Operation Deep Freeze Frozen Custard brings tasty deep freeze to Central Florida

Rich, creamy, smooth, flavor-filled; that is what custard is all about. Operation Deep Freeze Frozen Custard opened its doors in Mount Dora, Florida, bringing to Central Florida a tasty treat with a cold snap of delight.

With its “official” Grand Opening taking place June 30th, we’ve already had the deeply freezing joy of trying their custards. Having come from the Midwest, we enjoy custard, a treat very similar to ice cream. Custard is served fresh and at a warmer temperature than ice cream, allowing for the taste buds to detect more of the flavor. It is creamer in texture for many (we agree) and offers a lovely choice for treat options.

(Hint: we have tried a number of flavors and they are all good, but for your first time with custard, going with the standards: chocolate or vanilla. In order, they are still our #1 & #2 choices! Love ‘em!)

Their Grand Opening will celebrate the new store, offering guests the Frozen Custard along with gourmet coffee beans, Nathan’s Hot Dogs, and Taco-in-a-bag. Stop in any time between now and the 30th and then come back for more and more and…

Operation Deep Freeze Frozen Custard is actually a play-on-real-life. Owners Don and Bonnie moved to Mount Dora to enjoy their retirement, but quickly decided they needed something to do. Tapping into Don’s past as Chief Flight Engineer for the U.S. Antarctic Program (USAP), they came up with the name and feel of the place.

The Chief spent many happy hours flying from normal temperatures into the Deep Freeze of the Antarctic. Perhaps you remember those stories of rescues of doctors based there? The Chief’s crew was the one who got them out.

So it was a natural blend of life’s flavors when they went from Frozen Tundra to Frozen Custard, and you and are the ones who benefit!

Grand Opening: If you bring a donation for Lake Cares Food Pantry to the Grand Opening you will save 10% on your order. The Grand Opening is June 30th, 2012 at Operation Deep Freeze Frozen Custard in Mount Dora on 5th Street.
