Florida’s coast offers range of ways to enjoy the Sunshine State’s unique beauty
Florida’s coast lies along the vast majority of her edge, reaching into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean like the hand of a child reaching for Mother Earth. The many beauties and unique offerings of the Sunshine State lie along her coasts or at least because of them, water the heartbeat that keeps her pumping life and energy from shore to shore.
We human beings have come to see the sea as something more than a transport of goods from one coast to another, from a lane of commerce to a playground of opportunity to enjoy the greatest of beautiful settings. How Floridians and their guests share the beaches and coastal towns is as varied as the people who enjoy these places. The games people play as unique and interesting as the imaginations that create them.
Here we are sharing a range of ideas and locations to enjoy Florida’s coast. From beaches to play things, from shopping spots to so much more, this is a mere drop in the sand-pail of ideas and choices. So enjoy these and come back often for even more… as we Enjoy Florida’s Coast.
Fury Water Adventures in Key West is one of a large number
of water-sport outfitters around the state. Choose one wisely (word-of-mouth usually
does wonders) and enjoy everything from dolphin cruises to wave runners to
para-sailing. Bloggers such as Rori Travels Florida and websites
such as Visit Floridaand the Florida Keys & Key West
can help you locate good outfitters.

National Parks, State Parks and Local spots are
great for getting to know the Florida coast. Canaveral National
Seashore is a beach and wildlife area kept in a pristine and beautiful
natural state. While you do have to pay for some of these (many beaches are paid while
others are free so check ahead) you can spend a day at the beach in the natural
beauty that Mother Nature intended.

Florida is known for its natural beauty and takes a great
interest in protecting many of her treasures. Turtles, such as this little dude,
are protected. While he didn’t get to ride the motorcycle, he did
get to check it out. And here as in many areas, can live a great
life being watched out. Enjoy the natural
wild beauty includes the creatures that make Florida special.

Fishermen’s Village in Punta Gorda is one of the many interesting and
unique shopping areas in coastal towns and communities. Some are
repurposed from Florida’s coastal past, others purpose built, but all
are ready to welcome you to discover their fun, interesting, unique and
always special charm. Find that special item to take home and remember your Florida vacation.

Kayaking is another peaceful way to enjoy Florida’s waters, inland and oceanic.
Outfitters like Grande Tours in Placida offer rentals, sales and tours.
For many, the peaceful skimming over the surface brings to them an upfront
view of nature, like passing dolphins and manatee, for others its
all about the exercise. Kayaking is a sport that most will find doable
and most everyone will find enjoyable.

If you’re on the coast and cannot find good seafood you’re just not trying.
Many think they know seafood, then they (like I) try fresh seafood only feet from
the Gulf or ocean and lives change. Places in Florida, like Peace River Seafood,
offer the diner a taste of freshness previous generations knew, and we’ve somehow
lost. Seafood that is fresh and exciting is what you’re going to find the state-round. Enjoy!

Small towns like Tarpon Springs and the Sponge Docks,
bring to life the everyday cultures of the people who settled here.
For Tarpon Springs, its the Greeks. Their fishing and sponge diving
lives on today in generations that still share what it was to dive for sponge,
a very successful living for many Greek immigrants.
Their culture lives on in demonstrations, but also in the
foods and dining, shopping, and neighborhoods still alive with their
way of life.
