Lakeside Inn in Mount Dora offers The Gatehouse, a unique gift shop and gallery that goes beyond the normal t-shirts and post cards. Of course you will find those items here, and they are along the lines of a nice quality product to remember your visit, but so too are the items such as pottery, artwork, jewelry and so much more. I spotted this fun necklace and earring set from across the room. Tell me
it doesn’t look like a smiley face! Bet you’ll smile wearing them!
The orchid looked so beautiful in front of this
painting of the Lakeside Inn.
I loved these hand-carved rings. Most sizes are
larger leaning towards men, but they are amazing art work jewelry.
Martin Cushman is a featured artist here with lovely pottery.
His work can also be found across Highway 441 at Rennigers.

I loved these corks for wine bottles. What a great way to celebrate Florida.
The artist who created these prints actually
painted these based on old Florida post cards. What a
great way to enjoy a touch of the Old Florida we all love and miss.
What a beautiful pair of earrings. Sh, but I almost bought them for Laura as a gift.

These are broken from glass pots and pitchers then re-purposed. Amazing.
Handcrafted artistry can be found throughout The Gatehouse.
Lynn Herrick is a Florida artist who has studied with
one of The Highwaymen. Her art is a nice reflection of their
work, showing a gentle, peaceful and nature beauty to Florida.
Jewelry is very popular at The Gatehouse (and around Mount Dora).
There is a range of pieces from classics like this to crazy, fun, playful,
warm, earthy and more.
Lady Twins: the artists behind these two pieces are twin sisters with
an obviously wild and fun sense of humor. Their art is
on display as I write this, with new artists featured often and
“older” ones kept, but moved around. Come in to see some of the great Florida artists on display.
I thought these were wonderfully fun. Rings made from old
buttons and even a shell or two!
The Gatehouse at Lakeside Inn is always changing. Stop in to
discover the latest or find old friends still on display, but surely you
will find plenty to tickle your fancy!
