Marathon in the Florida Keys sits about halfway along the island chain, dripping off the mainland of Florida like a rain drop. The islands are home to some of Florida and the U.S.’s most beautiful land and waters, with colors, views, vistas and inhabitants of sea, sky and land all so amazing they can take the breath away. Enjoying time in the Keys means an overnight at least, and to truly be immersed in the beauty and fun, a number of days. With our upcoming trip we are working with a number of hotels along the chain to help us discover the Keys so we can report back what we find…

And for our Marathon nights, we’ll be at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, Marathon.

I actually first learned of them on Twitter, when their social media person began to follow me. As so often happens these days, word-of-mouth marketing means hearing from others – including the location itself – about opportunities. Then you do a little more checking and decide, “yea, I think I’m going to give it a try.” So when our trip came up, I reached out to my Tweep and arranged for a visit. If I’m helping promote them there, it makes sense to make a personal visit. (We will be their guests as members of the media)

So here are some photos to get things going, to share what we’re getting ready to experience, and to let you decide if you’re heading to the Keys if Holiday Inn Express & Suites are a place you’d like to check out. We’ve stayed in Holiday Inns, Holiday Inn Expresses as well, and so we’re certain it will be another pleasant stay. For generations, Holiday Inn has been a mainstay for so many travelers, including my family.

Stand Up Paddling-boarding is a huge and growing sport and pass-time,
with everyone from everyday folk to celebs doing it.
And don’t forget the furry ones, apparently this one loves it too!
