Mount Dora, Florida, set along the lakeside of Lake Dora, offers a peaceful and relaxing getaway only 45 minutes from Orlando. Charming, quintessential and Norman Rockwell are often used to describe this town, an historic district set aside for shopping, dining and lodging, where festivals fill the streets a number of times throughout the year, with lights, strolling, doggies, and other storybook visuals taking place the rest of the time.
Enjoying Mount Dora a single day is more than possible, but settling in for a couple is even better. Needing a place to stay is easily filled with a number of Inns, B&B’s and cottages around town. One of our favorites, Tremain Street Cottages, owned by our good friends, Brian and Rachelle, lets you settle into Mount Dora like a local, with the comforts of being a guest.
A two block walk from town, Tremain Street Cottages combine a transformed home and second building into four homey apartment-like rooms.

Settle into The Nantucket, a one bedroom ground floor apartment-room that is pet friendly. The twin beds can be arranged as a large and comfy king or two separate beds. As guests of Tremain Street Cottages, we enjoyed the Nantucket’s quiet and peace, a smallish, but not at all too small set up with plenty of room for clothing in the drawers or closet, a relaxing sitting room for talks or reading, the eating area off the kitchen which is fully equipped, and a bed that was simply comfy – cozy. Jake the dog loved having his bed along (no pets on the furniture, but bowls are provided) and we all enjoyed a peaceful night only blocks from the action of town.
Other room-apartments are The Hideaway, a one bedroom, upstairs cottage with King and no pets, The Rendezvous, a one bedroom upstairs cottages with Queen bed and no pets, and The Garden, one we can’t wait to try, with 2 bedrooms on the first floor, 2 Queen beds, pet friendly, and a lovely porch to enjoy a Florida evening.
Children are welcome in the first floor, Nantucket and Gardens.

The Nantucket's bed can either be arranged as a King or twins, but either way, it is a very comfy bed. The setting is peaceful and right for a pleasant nights stay. Photo Rori Paul

Apartment-like rooms means a homy stay with the comforts of someone else doing the work. In the Nantucket you'll find a bedroom area, kitchen, eating area, sitting room, bathroom, and closet all within a smallish, though not at all too small, aparment.
