Enjoy Florida's Coast

Give Me 5; Must do spots in Charlotte Harbor, Florida

I had the great opportunity to visit the Charlotte Harbor area of Florida recently, touring the area as a guest of their Convention and Visitors Bureau in an effort to let me learn about it, so I could share it with you. Covering a vast, natural part of Florida’s Southwestern coast along the Gulf of Mexico, we had more to do than our 4 days, filling each one to over flowing, and proving that a visit here can last a day, a week, or yes, even a month.

This is a naturally beautiful part of Florida, with unique flora and fauna along side those things you know about, like gators.

We had more than enough to keep us busy, but here are just 5 to help you get started. Visit us here on Rori Travels Florida as we share these and others, then on your next Florida get away, vacation, or adventure, consider this unique and beautiful part of Florida to give you a whole new “themed” advnture.

Babckcock Wilderness Adventure is an historic,
working ranch where you’ll get an up close look
at how Florida ranching works. Here gators live
side-by-side with cows grazing, and you’re
going to see it all in this peaceful, beautiful setting.

Fisherman’s Village in Punta Gorda offers a
large range of shopping and dining opportunities.
Come for the day or stay here in one of the
rental condos that line the second floor
of the Village. Sticking out into Charlotte Harbor, enjoy
a relaxing meal, Sunday brunch, or a few
drinks while watching the boats come and go.

I loved everything about our visit and stay in Charlotte Harbor &
the Gulf Islands
, but my personal favorite was
Grande Tours, a kayak tour through the peaceful, lovely,
natural waters of mangroves and the Gulf. Bring your
own boat, rent, or take a tour and discover this
amazing setting for yourself. Perhaps you too
will spy an Osprey diving for its meal or dolphins passing by.

Car guys and gals are gonna love Muscle Car City,
a privately owned car museum with a special
nod towards Chevy. Our host, Rick, shows off his collection,
open to the public and a car-guy’s dream.

Peace River Wildlife Center rescues, rehabs and releases birds
of many feathers from around the area. Mainly a location to
release, they do also offer a lifetime home to those who cannot
return, and provide a vital service to the many kinds of amazing
birds that call this part of the world home.

BONUS:

Looking for some amazing seafood?
One of the places we enjoyed – and I actually loved (I do not
eat seafood) was Peace River Seafood. They had me eating and
enjoying by the time we left. Freshest seafood – ours was less than
3 hours out of the Gulf – adorns the table in a
meal of plenty. Prepared with equal aplomb,
you too will likely return home thinking of your next visit…
