Just some of my favorites of 2011
Being a travel writer and blogger has allowed me to experience so many wonderful things, meet amazing people, and go to some fun and interesting places. We do what we do here at Rori Travels Florida so that when you’re planning your Florida vacation you have some ideas of what to do, where to go, and why this is such an interesting, beautiful, and diverse state.
We are our theme parks – Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, Sea World Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa, and LEGOLAND Florida – but we are so much more as well. Museums, lodging, small towns, outdoor activities, water sports, dining, shopping… the list goes on.
So here are just a few of the things we’ve done in 2011 to remind you of all these amazing opportunities – and hope you’ll check them out in further detail here on Rori Travels Florida – and hope that we inspire you to enjoy all of the wonderful, interesting, fun, adventurous, and memorable elements found throughout the Sunshine State.
Grande Tours in Placida offers up rentals, sales, and tours via kayak and SUP.
We enjoyed a tour that was one of the most
enjoyable ways I’ve spent a day in Florida.
I already have my kayak picked out (the blue one)
and cannot wait to return for more time
in this amazing setting.
Honestly I don’t know which place I loved more for
food, The Fishery Restaurant, with amazing seafood (remember, I don’t
eat seafood) drinks, and chicken. YUM!
or Peace River Seafood Market and Restaurant
where we had another amazing feast! There
is something to be said about totally fresh fish
and preparation!
While LEGOLAND Florida is very much
for the kid set (and their families)
there is something wonderfully charming
and memorable about their homage to Cypress Gardens.
The memories it brought back have renewed those
of my childhood and will remain with me for the
rest of my lifetime…
Spending time with friends is a treasure.
Spending time with friends at the beach is
memorable and a gift to warm the heart.
We love our time at any Florida beach, but to share with friends
such as Kirby and Bev of Places Around Florida
means being where you love, with those you love.
I’ve been around the world (a number of countries) but don’t like
flying (bad ear problems) but our days at Fantasy of Flight
are ones I’ll treasure. Kermit Weeks (owner, pictured with us)
isn’t just about his dream (FOF & Planes) but about
you and your dreams.
Or getting left behind by the plane…
hey, you’ve gotta have fun!
Part of the fun I’ve had in 2011 has included co-hosting the
Florida Travel Cocktail with my sweet and wonderful
friend, Ben, of adventureswithben.com. Thanks for asking me
to be a part of the laughter, Ben!
One of our truest joys is travel with our
dogs. Jake (black) & Abby (grey) are always
fun to bring along… We lost Abby at the end of the
summer and still ache for her. She loved to
ride and to be my co-pilot. Jake still comes along
and loves his Thundershirt that keeps him from
getting car sick.
An experience I will treasure always was
meeting and interviewing former shuttle astronaut,
Dr. Scott Parazynski. This man is amazing and it
was such an honor – not to mention fun.
Plus working with my guest co-host, Mike Cooney of Cooney World
Adventures. Mike, you’re a riot, dude!
Not to mention time with the girls.
Jennifer, Laura, and Bev can rock “the Ben”
with the best of them.
“The Ben” is for my buddy Ben of adventureswithben, com
and co-host of Florida Travel Cocktail.
You can’t forget the Ghost Walk in Mount Dora...
Mount Dora, the lovely lakeside town,
home to the Lakeside Inn, dining, shopping and so
much more…
Like Segway Tours...
Pure Aveda Spa experiences (& hair cuts)
Maggie’s Attic wine tastings…
… and so much blasted good food! (One Flight Up)
We had such a blast at Orlando Paintball

More amazing days at Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks...
As the sun sets on 2011 and we think back on all we’ve
done and we thank you for coming along for the ride.
There are so many more wonderful people, places and things
we’ve done, but not enough room to share them all…
But we love & thank you all for sharing our year with us!
We do this because we want to show you
all the amazing, fun, interesting, and memorable
ways to enjoy Florida. Our job is making your
next Florida vacation memorable by helping you
find the best ways to enjoy the Sunshine State.
Thank you for choosing to spend time with us, for sharing your love
of Florida with us, and for coming to Florida…
