Give Me 5; Places to celebrate weddings, bachelor parties, bachelorette parties

Grooms - and brides - can get their team on at Orlando Paintball. We met a groom who was doing just that! And I shot him! Photo courtesy of Orlando Paintball.

Let’s face it, the days of toilet paper dresses and strip clubs is past. Those quaint traces of naughty prior to the nuptials have had their day and those days are past. Sure, some still partake, but these days, hip and happening couples are looking for different, fun, interesting and more unique ways to kiss single-hood good-bye and embrace life together.

Weddings too are getting a makeover with destination weddings, theme weddings, vacation weddings and so on.

So how are you going to get your wedding groove on, make it personal and reflect your fun-loving ways? Here are 5 ideas to get you going right here in Florida. And stay tuned – we love sharing wedding ideas in this beautiful state of ours, so come back for more…

Orlando Paintball. Yep, you read that right – Paintball in Orlando at Orlando Paintball. Think I’m crazy? When we recently played I actually shot a groom a week out from the big day! So here’s a tip: plan your bachelor party at least a week out – his welt is going to be a light-trace of a reminder of that day of fun. But what a fun, cool  hip, and unique way to hang with the boys – um, and ladies, you too can give it a try for your day – before that next big life step!

Maggie’s Attic. Many know my love of “our local” (as our friends the Brits would say) – Laura and I love partaking of an odd glass and the twice monthly wine tastings are a great way to bring the bridal crowd along for the fun. A once a month beer tasting is there for the beer lovers – and yep, I met the groom

and his buds recently hanging for a tasting – so why not launch life by tipping a few back at this charming, friendly and fun locale. Oh yea, and added thought: have someone buy you a Maggie’s Wine Club membership as a gift and let the good times not only keep rolling, but take it home with you… Those Who know Are here! Take The Fun Home.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Love the water? How about marine mammals? Think Flipper was the cat’s meow? Then how about a party or wedding at Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Visit the otters, check out Winter Dolphin – film star – and see a demonstration of their fun adventures. CMA is also available for events, so why not have the wedding her in a lovely and important setting, bringing the ocean to you and reminding each other and your friends that you are passionate about our waters, animals and earth.

Richard Petty Driving Experience. Get your speed on – feel the need – heed the call of the wild-Rowdy. Richard Petty Driving Experience has created a way for the racing and NASCAR fan to enjoy the very best of what going fast is all about. Sit shotgun with a NASCAR pro (not the boys from Sprint, but still talented) and go three breath-taking laps around the track. Hit 140 MPH and then crawl out and beg for more. Wanna really hit the streets? Take it on yourself and give driving a shot. The boys are back in town and you’re wedding day will be breathless for more than just the beauty of your bride. And ladies – don’t let the boys have all the fun!

SUPing. SUP Eco Adventures is one (and a great one) of the many places to enjoy SUPing, here in Florida. We loved our time with Dina and Fernando, gliding thru the natural beauty of Florida’s waterways. Standup Paddleboarding is the ‘it’ thing to do now and you can be at the front end of a fun, exciting, peaceful, and memorable sport for your party or wedding. Get the girls out there and even mom will come along for the fun, the boys may get a little wild looking for wildlife and who knows, maybe even exchanging vows on a SUP can get your marriage off right.
