Jack, the Shell Diving Dog

See Jack. See Jack on the pier. See the shell. See the shell go into the water. See Jack go into the water. See Jack searching under water. See Jack come to the surface. See Jack with the shell. See Jack the Shell Diving Dog.

He’s Jack and at 11 years old his favorite game along the shores of Melbourne Beach, Florida’s mangroves is to jump in and find his conch shell. That’s right, this water dog not only loves the water, but he loves to go searching for his shell and then return (retrieve) it to land. (video below)

Where he proceeds to shake off the water before giving that old conch water-for.

Perhaps that’s the cutest part; owner John giving Jack the command to, “yell at it.”

Jack’s need to retrieve is topped off with his need to sound off and then start all over again.

Jack’s brother KC is also a water dog, but unlike Jack, KC doesn’t always return with the shell. Not that he can’t; he just doesn’t always want to. Apparently a few human searches left KC watching from shore. But he doesn’t seem to mind. Everyone assembled is as ready to tell KC he’s as good a boy as his fun-loving bro.

So if you’re happening to visit the Melbourne Beach area, perhaps you’re about to venture out with SUP Eco Adventures for a SUP tour or you’re there to launch your boat or rent one at Honest John’s Fish Camp, be sure to ask if Jack’s conch hunting then standby for some good, old fashioned simple fun.
