Jimmy Buffett sings the songs of summer, palm trees, soft breezes, sandy beaches and boat drinks when he’s talking about changing latitudes and changing attitudes, and at the Westin’s Sunset Key Guest Cottages you’re pretty much living that song every day you spend there. Now your changed latitude can get even better at Sunset Key’s Latitudes restaurant, named to the 2011 Diner’s Choice “Best Outdoor Dining” list by Open Table.

Latitudes is described as, “An innovative, yet unintimidating, seasonal menu features local fish and fresh produce; a variety of island classics; an ample selection of traditional meats, poultries and pasta plus favorite breakfast and lunch items.”

Opened in April 2010, Latitudes offers the best  – perhaps ideal – location in the Keys to enjoy casual fare with a Caribbean flare and sweeping views of each spectacular sunset over the Gulf of Mexico.

The good folks at Sunset Key Guest Cottages sent us their information letting us know about this exciting news, while also reminding us of the beauty and latitude of Sunset Key set only a short boat ride off the Florida Key’s Key West.

“We are so proud of Latitudes’ placement on the Diners’ Choice ‘Best Outdoor Dining’ list,” said Diane Schmidt, general manager for Sunset Key Guest Cottages, A Westin Resort. “While we have to give Mother Nature a lot of the credit for her stunning Key West sunset scenery, we strive to capitalize on this backdrop with outstanding food and impeccable service, creating an unforgettable experience for our guests.”

Apparently the list of winners is culled from more than 7 million reviews submitted by Open Table diners for more than 12,000 restaurants in all 50 states and DC. Based on feedback from those diners, 50 restaurants were award-winning for their highest scores.

Want to check out Latitudes? Head to Key West at the far tip of the Florida Keys where Sunset Key Guest Cottages sets like a picture-perfect postcard on a 27-acre island known as Sunset Key. Five hundred yards off Key West, guests feel a million miles away on a secluded hideaway.

Latitudes is on the west side of Sunset Key and can be easily accessed by taking the resort’s charming, ten-minute boat ride which launches from its sister property, The Westin Key West Resort & Marina, located on Front Street in Key West. Latitudes is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as “small plates” and cocktails.
