Piglet’s Pantry; A dog companion inspires a business that serves pet parents with quality, passion for our furry family, and a common bond of dog and cat love
Her name was Piglet and along with her siblings Tigger and Kricket she inspired what since 1997 has been Piglet’s Pantry. Located on the main streets of Mount Dora (Donnelley and 4th Ave) Piglet’s is at the heart of a dog-friendly town, poised to help you choose not only a great toy or bed for your furry family, but healthy snacks, foods and treats to tempt their taste buds.
We’ve visited Piglet’s on a few occasions, purchasing a few of the bakery goods for Abby & Jake to share, and have always found it to be a fun array of treats. I hadn’t known much about the story of Piglet’s – there is a sign outside that makes the dedication to Piglet -but online you can find out that while Piglet was a picky eater, her human parents wanted to give her and her siblings a healthy lifestyle – food included. So was born Piglet’s Pantry.
On our recent visit the owner was standing among the crowds, talking, offering to help and smiling at each passing customer, so while Assistant Laura made the puppy choices, I talked with the owner – such an idiot on this day I didn’t grab her name – about taking photos and sharing our enjoyment of their store and products. She allowed me the roam of the place and when I remembered to take a look for something I thought they might carry, was thrilled to see that they offered a healthier dog food we learned about from Amy & Rod at GoPetFriendly.com.
We’d gotten samples of Keen – healthy, human grad foods – from The Honest Kitchen – and aside from falling tail over noses in love with the food, we’re thrilled about the better nutrition for our aging canine-family. I had a hunch Piglet’s would carry it and sure enough, there it was on the back shelves where the foods are kept.
Aside from The Honest Kitchen offerings, Piglet’s Pantry has a variety of other healthy pet choices, including frozen raw foods. Treats and snacks all around are also healthy and tasty – just the way Piglet would want.
One of the reasons we love Piglet’s Pantry is the pricing. We remain on a tight budget these days, but still want to do something nice for our kids. Piglet’s offers a range of treats with a range of pricing. We can always find something for for a decent price – huge in our economic times, in a specialty store and a tourist town. We appreciate that greatly.
Piglet’s is no ordinary pet store. Oh sure, they’ve got the shelves of toys, treats and human doggie treats (t-shirts, cards, other people-toys) but they’re also committed to your doggies and kitties and their happy, healthy lives. They’re a friendly bunch here, with staff standing around waiting to answer questions and help, and they want you and your dog to have what they have – a happy, loving companionship.

Hey and whatever you do, don’t miss saying hi to the “official Piglet’s greeters”. Their current family of three greyhounds consists of Koko and her siblings, Pharaoh and Neve. Apparently Koko is the diva, Pharaoh the king of the treats and Neve the current “Official” greeter. We had the chance to observe Neve in her element: napping in grand style on her pillow. So popular are these ambassadors of doggie goodness, there is a schedule of their duties on the store wall and online. Plan you visit around who’s working when.
Piglet’s is one of the several businesses around Mount Dora that is not only pet friendly, but participates in Mount Dora-doggie events. Once monthly doggies and their human family can enjoy Yappy Hour with wine tasting, doggie talk and treats.
Other events around Mount Dora are supported by Piglets – who also reminds you that “official” Mount Dora Festivals DO NOT allow pets/dogs to attend. Please do not bring dogs to these events as they will not be allowed in by local ordinance.
For every doggie (and kittie) mommy and daddy who wants to bring home something special for their kids, Piglet’s Pantry in Mount Dora is an excellent source. I’ve been told by several doggies (mine included) not to come home without something! You think I’m kidding…

Thanks…some days I feel like I am not doing it right! I truly needed the support today!
Hi Carla! I’m glad to share our warm impressions of Piglet’s Pantry! Good animal people’s hearts always shine through – even on the bad days. We can’t help it – we’re touched by our furry friends. We love Piglet’s and can’t wait to get back for a few more treats – our dogs can’t wait either!
