Give Me 5: Places to taste and enjoy wine in Florida

Epcot's China offers a delicious Plum Wine at the Joy of Tea - along with a tasty egg roll. This is a favorite of ours during Epcot visits. Photo by Rori Paul.
Wine tasting and partaking is an adult beverage lover’s delight. Wine Tastings and wine with dinner are just the tip of the fruity iceberg of such indulgence. So where in Florida can someone partake, enjoy and take home?
Here are 5 spots to help you enjoy a wine lover’s journey…
Epcot, Walt Disney World. World Showcase at Epcot offers up a taste of the wines of the world – or at least those found in the countries represented. Taste something from France, Italy or Germany, then bring a bottle home – or back to the hotel – for further enjoyment. A particular favorite? We love the Plum Wine served in China at the Joy of Tea – and you can get a bottle to take home as well. Don’t miss the International Wine & Food Fest each fall when wines from around the world are added to the lineup for a few weeks of extended palate pleasure.
Maggie’s Attic of Florida. Mount Dora. We recently “discovered” this adorable little wine and beer bar in Mount Dora. Dark and warm, a tasting haven set in a shopping area, but feeling more like the wine cellar of a good friend’s home, there are wines from around the world – along with beers – to enjoy. Monthly events add to the fun, and doggies are welcome to join mom and dad in a visit. We cannot wait to return to enjoy another glass.
Lakeridge Winery. Clermont. This winery set in the rolling area outside of Orlando offers up a tasty treat – we love the Southern Red – while allowing guests to also learn about wine making during their free winery tours. Tastings are free as well and a shop downstairs lets you purchase what you loved upstairs. Plus they’ve got a ton of other culinary and wine lover’s delights – spruce up your kitchen with a range of decorative gear.

Wine Room on Park Avenue. Winter Park. I have to be honest, I’ve not been here, but I “found them” when they began following me on Twitter. It looks like a really cool place for wine lovers of any level of interest and experience. Taste or buy, find wines that come from around the world, and enjoy discovering something new while repeating with an old friend. It looks like a rich and warm atmosphere in which to enjoy your adult beverage.
Florida Grape Growers Association. Online. Ok, I’m cheating a little bit here, but I’ve discovered that there are several wineries throughout Florida, and rather than you only knowing about one or two in Central Florida, you might want to know about one in the panhandle, near the Keys or near Jacksonville. Hop online to this association dedicated to supporting Florida’s wineries and discover a winery near you and your travels.
