America’s second largest St. Patty’s Day celebrationhttp://www.savannahtourofhomes.org/ takes place in the land of dripping Spanish Moss (does it turn Irish in March?). Not one to settle for a one day celebration, Savannah gets ready for the green two weeks ahead of the parade.
From the Investiture of the Grand Marshal to the Greening of the Fountain in Forsyth Park, the Celtic Cross Mass and Ceremony to the morning of the parade and Mass at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, St. Patty’s Day is a religious and cultural phenomenon in Savannah.
Love the architecture of Savannah? Then March is an ideal time for your visit. The Savannah Tour of Homes and Gardens offers visitors a rare treat; walking into many of this Belle’s richest beauties.
In addition to walking tours, enjoy seminars, special evening events and some of the food and hospitality this Southern Beauty is known for.
I can hear music, sweet, sweet music… the Savannah Music Festival runs from March 24 – April 9th bringing into this party-ready town a large gathering of music makers ready to set your toes to tapping, heart to flying, strings to humming and soul- to smooth sailing to the rhythm of the beat.
Don’t believe me? Check out the line up page and see: so many artists I’m not counting, and genres including Americana, Bluegrass, Blues (duh), Children, Country, Cuban, Funk, and Soul. And that’s just for starters. Wait till you see the list of instruments.
Get tickets, dates and other information on the Music Festival Website.
So… if I haven’t convinced you that March is a great time to visit Savannah, how about her charm, beauty and rich history? Maybe the food or the libations that flow as freely as a waterfall in spring. Or maybe its just because you’ve always wanted to go.
Enjoy Savannah this spring and discover a new lady in your heart…
Thank you to Visit Savannah for their continued support, images and Southern charm.
