Rix Lounge at Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort offers touch of Hollywood-style nightlife in Central Florida

Nope, never been to the likes of a Hollywood hot spot with wannabe-celebrities like Paris Hilton or a Kardashian hanging out. Never been along a red carpet with Brad & Angelina or some other A-lister. Haven’t even been to Vegas where Grecian architecture blends its impressive pillars into the facades of trendy spots as smoothly as Wayne sings his songs.
However, I’ve seen enough on TV and in magazines to know the feel, groove and scene and its the exact why I felt during an evening at Walt Disney World, Coronado Springs Resort’s Rix Lounge.
I’m not saying the Kardashian girls popped in nor that we in attendance at the Travel Blogger Show opening night tweet-up/get together are of the caliber to walk a red carpet (at least outside of my dreams – ‘I’d like to thank the Academy’), but the set up, ambiance and vibe are all here and anyone looking to chill in such an environ is sure to be pleased.
Our evening was set off to a slightly discreet side – I’m not sure such places are built for being discreet – with a living room set up & couches and not really enough room for all of us, but isn’t that the goal of a party? To cram everyone in and enjoy the chat, drinks and chilling good times?
Rix is set off and around the corner from the Coronado Springs entry – walking past is where you’ll have that Vegas feel, the entry a grand tribute to all things overly big and cool. Step inside to a smooth and sweet spot – the kind I’m talking about where you’d expect Paris & friends to be chilling on one of the pillow infested couches spying who’s spying them.
The bar is long and big – though I never got over there; our waitresses making a steady round to keep an unwavering eye on our glasses are half empty status.

I loved the smooth chill of the colors – warm yet somehow cooling reds, purples and the glowing orange of the candles. The servers fit as well as the furnishings; this is where the pretty people work.
Old Blue Eyes would have made a perfect turn of it with Deano at his side – drink in hands – in a place like Rix.
Sports fans do not fear for this is your man’s cave delight. The guys are gonna love the babes in arms serving them while watching the big game on TV’s around the room. Ladies, have no fear, a cute bartender will provide your eye candy, but do like the game; its a central activity to the night’s adventure.
Our get-together was a huge success in this setting. I did feel at times the furniture was in the way – it’s not a party till something gets broken – but it kept us moving, talking, mingling. Frankly the night passed all too quickly as Tweeps became friends and Assistant Laura & I decided we needed to make a return visit just to try things on our own.
Our drinks were good – Laura had her driver’s careful selection glass of wine while I enjoyed a Rix special; Day at the Beach (Malibu Rum, Amaretto Disaronno, OJ and a splash of Grenadine) followed up with a Dos Equis, all resort style pricing. We had no food this evening, but a full appetizer menu is on hand.
Rix Lounge is a great spot where Walt Disney World guests can chill while on vacation and looking for some adults-only time, while those staying off property are invited to partake as well.
